"Left Behind"
To all the wounded hearts, those victims left behind,
Who struggle now for answers, or just some peace of mind.
I've felt your pain, and cried your tears, I do know how you feel,
I've spent those long and lonely nights, with a heart that just won't heal.
I've walked that road of shadows that you now travel on,
I've sat in silent darkness, and waited for the dawn.
I've wished so many times, just for one more day,
The many things that I could do, the words that I would say.
A mother, a brother, a father, a son, or a daughter like mine,
We search for hidden reasons, that we may never find.
I miss her smile, her gentle eyes, the laugh that was hers alone,
And it's hard for me, still at times, to admit she's really gone.
They told me time would ease the pain, but I will not lie to you,
I miss her just as much today, as when the wound was new.
I visit now a marker, and cannot hide the tears,
I see her name etched there in stone, and the day she left us here.
But comfort comes in knowing, I will see her again,
And the promise of my Savior, that this broken heart will mend.
I know there's little I can say, and less that I can do,
But I will pray Gods mercy and grace will see you through.
For He too knows your pain, and the depth of your loss,
He watched His one and only Son, die upon a cross.
So rest now in His mercy, and some comfort you may find,
To all the wounded hearts......... the victims......
Left behind.
